Softi Scan to PDF is a lightweight, classic Windows desktop utility specifically designed to convert physical paper documents into small, multi-page PDF files. Known for its simple interface and excellent G4 TIFF compression, it compresses a typical black-and-white scanned page to under 30KB, making it highly efficient for emailing. Quick Setup & Core Workflow

Setting up and using the software involves a straightforward, minimal configuration process:

Select Capture Source: Click Select Capture Source from the main menu. This opens a window to link your hardware. If your device supports both, always choose the TWAIN driver over the WIA driver for better stability and control.

Configure Scan Settings: To keep file sizes small, navigate to your scanner settings and choose Black & White at 200 DPI. This triggers the software’s advanced compression.

Scan the Document: Place your document on the scanner bed and click Scan Now. If you are using a standard flatbed scanner, you can sequentially scan multiple pages to compile them into a single, multi-page PDF.

Save or Preview: Once the pages are captured, click Save PDF to store the document on your computer. Key Technical Details

Compression: It uses G4 TIFF compression, optimizing documents to be 5 to 10 times smaller than color or grayscale scans.

System Compatibility: It is a legacy 2.1 MB application built primarily for older versions of Windows (including Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7).

Email Workaround: The software doesn’t feature a direct “Email” button. However, clicking the Preview button automatically launches your default system PDF viewer, allowing you to quickly share the document from there.
